PALLIATIVE & SUPPORTIVE CARE OF NANTUCKET FOUNDATION HIRES CARRIE (GLIDDEN) RIDEN AS EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR

NANTUCKET, MA – Palliative & Supportive Care of Nantucket Foundation has hired Ms. Carrie (Glidden) Riden as its Executive Director. The Foundation, which has been run exclusively by a volunteer board, hired Riden to pursue various revenue streams, streamline communication, and increase community awareness for the Foundation which funds all of Palliative & Supportive Care’s programs.

Riden’s most recent role was as Director of Donor Relations at The Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson’s Research in New York City. The Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson’s Research is a nonprofit organization dedicated to finding a cure for Parkinson’s and has funded more than $270 million in research to date, either directly or through partnerships.

Born and raised on Nantucket, Riden has a Bachelors degree in Psychology from Harvard University and spent seven years working in the publishing and nonprofit industries in New York City before returning home to Nantucket to raise her family. Riden sits on the Board of Inky Santa’s Toy Drive as well as the Nantucket Boys & Girls Club’s Summer Groove Committee.

“I am thrilled to be working for a program that has helped me and my family over the years. I have seen the wonderful work the program does for our community and I’d like to help make sure that work continues,” said Riden. “Raising money has proven quite difficult for the Foundation in this economy, but with our aging population it’s essential that we find a way to continue and even expand the program’s services.”

“I look forward to working with the Foundation’s Board and to working closely with Charlene Thurston, Program Director, and her staff as we strive to maintain the financial viability of this excellent service for the community,” said Riden, whose work with Palliative & Supportive Care of Nantucket Foundation began November 15, 2011.
